Claude Gruffy is a self-made artist. He was born in 1955 in Montreal. Right from a tender age, he shows a definite talent for drawings. At the age of ten, his drawings had him win a first prize on a TV show.

He is a passionate man, especially when he is talking about oil painting. He discovered this medium in 1976. From then on, following in the footsteps of the great masters, he has experimented with many techniques such as impressionism, cubism etc.

With the passing years, this young artist through his own experience discovered a more personal approach. It is in the early eighties that Claude Gruffy has expressed the desire to experiment a new approach called the visionary path.

He has been known since through his works that are reproduced on greeting cards, posters, record sleeves and finally on book covers. They are distributed everywhere in Quebec as well as outside the province. One of his posters and one book cover can be found worldwide. He has had exhibits all over Quebec.

His oil technique is quite special. He works at his paintings applying many layers of paint and glaze (diluted paint) which gives his works a unique brightness and a great depth.

He as discover also for some years the photography. This recent passion brings him even farther in its inner search. He transforms the photos in a program in the computer so to create a new dimension.

Now the artist reveals his inner vision: "Life is an infinite journey that follows a winding road across different planes of existence. Within each individual gushes forth a source of unlimited inspiration. When we realize this creative energy at work in ourselves we become a channel for this divine source. When we surrender completely to this infinite presence, we experiment creativity without any restraint. I love to express that vision through painting because it unveils the mysteries and the beauties of Soul."
